Marcus Solomon

Solomon first went to Robben Island when he was 24 years old where he served a ten year term- the charge, as with all the other main characters of MORE THAN JUST A GAME, was the widely used five words: ‘conspiracy to overthrow the state’

A wide, toothy grin cannot dim the intelligence – and anxiety – in the grey eyes. Solomon is always busy, his eyes darting about as his thoughts move quickly across intellectual and emotional disciplines. He enjoys talking, partly because he is sociable and enjoys the exchange of wit, but also because he is good at it: he takes a delight in oratory. Solomon played a prominent role in the Makana Football Association- first as a player, then as a referee and later as a club administrator for his team Dynaspurs FC.

Solomon lives in Plumstead, Cape Town. He is the National Projects Co-ordinator of the Children Resource Centre based in the Western Cape.
