VIDEOVISION ENTERTAINMENT’S ROBBEN ISLAND SOCCER FILM FOR THE BIG SCREEN
More Than Just A Game, the film that follows the inspiring and little-known story of organized soccer played among prisoners on Robben Island will be released in South Africa on Friday, 25 April 2008. The film which is produced by Anant Singh and Helena Spring and directed by Junaid Ahmed, stars Presley Chweneyagae (Tsotsi), Wright Ngubeni (Generations), Tshepo Maseko (Isidingo).
More Than Just A Game is told through the stories of five former prisoners: Mark Shinners, Anthony Suze, Lizo Sitoto, Sedick Isaacs and Marcus Solomon. It tells how political activists sent to Robben Island in the 1960s rise above their incarceration by creating a football league, the Makana Football Association, and find an outlet for their passion and commitment to discipline through soccer.
